I ve replaced thermocouple before on my old water heater with manual type valve but the pilot would always light and when i released the button to adjust burner setting it would go out.
When i lit it manually this time the pilot was very week and i was thinking the thermopile was not getting hot enough low millivolts to operated the electronics.
