Install extension by sliding it over the elbow. Secure extension with sheet metal screws. Before securing the screw into the hole you need to complete two basic tasks. First take a piece of scrap downspout material and slice it open.

Assemble the downspout at the ground level driving primed sheet metal screws into predrilled holes at each joint in the downspout. Alternatively attach clincher bands u shaped brackets that run. Place the first strap 2 feet from ground level and secure the strap to the house behind the down spout with one screw. They are the perfect length to secure your components.
